This season has been full of exciting moments and some big time fights thus far in the NHL, but nothing quite like what we saw on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. It may not have been at quite the level of the Rangers vs. Devils matchup last season, but after building up all game, the tensions got a little too high in the middle of the third period.

What started as a little push and shove near the net quickly devolved into several fights, with Kesselring and Carrick almost immediately dropping the gloves, before chaos truly ensued, with McBain and Edson joining the party soon after, leading to a very bloody Jack McBain. Perhaps the most shocking part of this all was Matt Rempe on the ice... not fighting, as it appeared the NHL's top heavyweight couldn't find a dance partner in what was one of the most ridiculous scenes we've seen early in the NHL season.
It's unclear what exactly kicked all of this off, but earlier in the game we saw a controversial call from official Wes McCauley, who called a goaltender interference on Will Cuylle that certainly was a questionable one.
Also another controversial goaltender interference call was made by Wes Mccauley on the Rangers.
This was already a thrilling game that ended up with an overtime victory, but in Utah HC's first three games, they are proving to be a massive handful in the NHL, and with so much young talent and now some toughness behind them as well, we may be looking at a surprise Stanley Cup Playoff team in 2024/25. As for New York, we've seen this before, and now that the team have toughness beyond Matt Rempe, it may be their time to step up and push for a Stanley Cup.
