Insider reveals two remaining teams in the Alex DeBrincat sweepstakes
It appears that we're getting close to seeing the Ottawa Senators trade restricted free agent forward Alex DeBrincat, who doesn't want to remain with the organization long-term.
During 'The Jeff Marek Show' on Tuesday, the Sportsnet insider revealed which two teams were still in the Alex DeBrincat sweepstakes. Those two teams are - the Detroit Red Wings and the New York Islanders.
There have been teams that were in the mix to acquire DeBrincat, but dropped out for various reasons. According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, one of the teams that is no longer in the running for DeBrincat is the Vegas Golden Knights.
"I heard at one point Vegas was in it now I think they're out" Friedman said.
Friedman added during the '32 Thoughts' podcast, "Even though the team and the agent aren't very happy with each other right now, they need each other to get it done and from what I heard it's not like it's that far away, this is within striking distance"
DeBrincat, 25, had a solid year with the Senators, but took a slight step back in terms of point production when compared to his final season in Chicago. In 82 games with Ottawa, the Farmington Hills, Michigan native put up 66 points (27 goals, 39 assists), 45 penalty minutes and was a minus-31.
