New York Islanders captain gets sucker punched after a dangerous trip
The Philadelphia Flyers were visiting Long Island on a five game winning streak heading into Thursday's game. Things started off badly for the Flyers, just 1:50 into the game, Islanders captain Anders Lee scored the opening goal.
Later on in the period Lee made his presence felt again. Lee and Flyers winger Joel Farabee were skating near the Philadelphia goal when Lee pushes Farabee causing him into crash into the post with his leg in an awkward position.
Farabee gets up understandably upset and goes to confront Lee with a scrum ensuing. At the very end, Farabee lands a hard punch to Lee's face that earns him two minutes for roughing. It's surprising there wasn't 4 on 4 hockey with Lee escaping punishment. Luckily the Flyers were able to kill off the penalty.
The Islanders had a 3-1 lead late in the game when Farabee scored his 8th of the year to make it a one goal contest. That was as close as Philadelphia would come on the night losing the game 3-2 and ending their five game unbeaten run.
