Philadelphia Flyers 2023 first-round pick coming to North America
The seventh overall pick from the 2023 NHL Entry Draft has decided to come to North America and play with the NHL team that drafted him, the Philadelphia Flyers.
There has been speculation for months as to whether or no Matvei Michkov would leave the KHL at the end of this season and join the Flyers for the 2024-2025 season however late Sunday morning the mystery surrounding if he'd even be in Philadelphia by training camp was squashed with this following:
Michkov who suited up for St. Peterburg SKA as well as Sochi HC the last three seasons will be a welcome addition to a Flyers organization who looks to be in the midst of a rebuild. While earlier this summer general manager Daniel Briere was non-commital or just unsure as to whether Mitchkov would ever see North America again, the work to have him come over appears to be over.
It should be noted that Michkov is now being represented by CAA management and although unknown and wildly speculative, this could be a large reason as to why a deal was able to get done to bring the nineteen year old stateside as early as he was able too.
