26-year-old Penguins forward among three places on waivers
The waiver wire was pretty busy on Thursday afternoon as a total of three players were placed on it by their respective teams.
According to TSN's Chris Johnston, Jansen Harkins (Pittsburgh), Radek Simek (San Jose) and Zach MacEwan (Ottawa) landed on waivers this afternoon.
"Placed on NHL waivers: Jansen Harkins (PIT), Zack MacEwen (OTT) and Radim Simek (SJ)." Johnston said. Harkins, 26, was claimed off waivers 17 days ago by the Penguins from Winnipeg and has gone on to appear in four games for Pittsburgh this season, but has failed to record any points.
Simek, 31, has spent parts of five seasons in the NHL with the San Jose Sharks, but has yet to appear in any games for them during the 2023-24 campaign.
MacEwan, 27, signed with Ottawa this summer and has one assist in two games for the Senators so far this season.
If any of the players on Thursday's waiver wire clear on Friday, they'll be assigned to their organization's American Hockey League affiliate.
