Evgeni Malkin's father seen crying after son's goal
The Pittsburgh Penguins are doing everything in their power to stay in the playoffs race. After all the teams around them have struggled the Penguins who have won 3 games in a row are suddenly right back in the race. With just 6 games remaining every game for the Pens now matters.
Today the Penguins face off against the Tampa Bay Lightning in a must win game. Late in the second period, Evgeni Malkin scored to give his team a 4-1 lead and provide his team some breathing room. After the goal the camera captured Evgeni's father who made the trip from Russia for today's game.
It was immediately clear that this goal meant a lot to the elder Malkin who was brought to tears by his son's goal.

A win today would tie the Penguins with the Philadelphia Flyers and put a lot of pressure on their state rivals who have lost six games in a row. It's still a long shot for the Pens to make the playoffs, but they've certainly put themselves into the conversation, something not many people would have predicted even two weeks ago.
