Mario Lemieux releases statement on the passing of Johnny & Matthew Gaudreau
Hockey Hall of Famer Mario Lemieux has released a statement on the passing of Johnny & Matthew Gaudreau.
The hockey community continues to mourn the passing of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, with tributes pouring in from players, teams and leagues across the globe.
On Sunday, former Pittsburgh Penguins captain and Hockey Hall of Famer Mario Lemieux released a statement on social media through his foundation, saying that the hockey world is here to support the Gaudreau family at this difficult time and that they'll be missed by everyone.
"The entire hockey world is here to support the Gaudreau family. Johnny and Matthew had such an amazing impact, both on and off the ice and far beyond hockey. We are all one big family. You will be missed, but your legacy lives.

Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau passed away on the evening of August 29th after being struck by an alleged drunk driver while riding their bicycles in New Jersey. The brothers were heading home from the rehearsal dinner for their sister's wedding, which was set to be held the following night.
The man who struck the Gaudreau brothers, Sean Higgins, has been charged with two counts of vehicular homicide and is currently being held at Salem County Correctional Facility. He's due back in court on Friday, September 13th.
