The Pittsburgh Penguins have struggled in net this season, and now it appears they have sent Tristan Jarry home to get him back to his very best.
Tristan Jarry has been a solid player in net for the Pittsburgh Penguins over the past few years, but in 2024/25 he has struggled mightily, posting a 5.47 GAA and an .836 save percentage through three appearances. With the return of Alex Nedeljkovic, Jarry's future in Pittsburgh is up in the air, with the team even reportedly weighing all options, including trading the 29-year old, with a trade of Jarry not ruled out completely either.
Now, after a Western Canadian road trip that is half over, the team have reportedly sent him home to Pittsburgh as they look to help stop his struggles in 2024, with Nedeljkovic and Joel Blomqvist set to serve as the top two in Pittsburgh for the remainder of the trip.
Head Coach Mike Sullivan admitted after the move that Jarry has been nowhere near his best this season, but reveals that he owes it to his players to do whatever they can to turn the tide in their favour, and this is seemingly the way they are doing it with Jarry.
«The first couple of starts that he's had haven't been his best,» Sullivan said. «I'm probably stating the obvious when I say that. But it's our responsibility to help players through some of the struggles they inevitably go through in this league, and Tristan is no different.»
Unfortunately for Jarry the British Colombia native, that means that he will not get to play in his home province against the Vancouver Canucks, but given how important this season is for this team to get back into the Stanley Cup Playoffs, they'll no doubt be favouring a return to form of Jarry rather than a simple game played in his home province.
