The St. Louis Blues have been lucky to have Jordan Binnington over the years, and he had great confidence from the start according to Martin Brodeur.
Despite being one of the most hated goaltenders in the NHL due to his multiple issues on the ice, Jordan Binnington has had a fantastic career in St. Louis, as he is well on his way to becoming one of, if not the greatest goaltender that the franchise has ever seen.
That career began way back in the 2011 NHL Draft when he was picked in the third-round by the Blues, and since that point he's gone on to play 310 games in net for St. Louis.
Now, former Assistant General Manager Martin Brodeur has told a very intriguing story about Binnington's early days in St. Louis, as the legendary goaltender was essentially sent to see a young Binnington with the purpose of telling him he's been re-assigned to the AHL.
As Brodeur tells it however, the young kid wasn't having it, as he essentially told Brodeur that he wasn't leaving the NHL team, to which Brodeur was absolutely speechless, given that Binnington simply didn't want to give up on the break that he finally caught.
It appears as though his confidence was correct however, as Binnington led the team to a Stanley Cup in 2019 as well as posting a solid 2.80 GAA and a .907 save percentage alongside a record of 156-109-34 in his decade with the team.
At 31-years of age, there's still plenty more to come for Binnington, and as he's not a free agent until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, it's likely that we may see him in a Blues sweater for a long time to come, and potentially for the rest of his career.
