Daniel Sprong has been a fairly productive NHL player over the years, but now he's passed through waivers and will head to the AHL with the Seattle Kraken after the issues surrounding Sprong's character have been raised over the years.
For the second time this season, an NHL team has moved on from veteran Daniel Sprong, who was officially waived by the Seattle Kraken on Thursday in a shocking move following a very slow start to his 10 games with the team after being acquired by Vancouver weeks earlier.
On Thursday, top NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman revealed that he passed through waivers, with no other team looking to take a chance on the 27-year old, as character concerns are raised once more.
Earlier this season, there were major concerns raised about Sprong when he was with the Vancouver Canucks, with many believing that Sprong isn't the best guy to be with in the locker room, and clearly other teams are paying very close attention.
Rumour has it he's not the best guy in the room. Whether that concept regarding chemistry is true remains to be seen for a Canucks dressing room that will do its best to acclimate the 27-year-old native of the Netherlands.
This isn't the first time that questions over Sprong's character have been raised, as he was accused of as****t back in 2023 by former INDYCAR driver Zach Claman DeMelo, with the issues seemingly piling up around him.
Ultimately, it's clear that behind the scenes Sprong isn't someone that teammates want to be around, and without production on the ice to overcome the issues, it's easy to see why teams have moved on from him in recent years, and with just a one-year deal, his future in the NHL is up in the air beyond the 2024/25 campaign.
