According to CapFriendly, the Seattle Kraken have placed forward John Hayden on waivers for the purpose of assigning him to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds.

Hayden, 28, signed a one-year contract with the Seattle Kraken as a free agent last summer during the opening days of free agency. He spent the majority of the 2022-23 season in the American Hockey League, putting up 33 points (17 goals, 16 assists) in 47 games.

The Chicago native also appeared in seven games during the year with the Kraken, recording two goals, seven penalty minutes and was a plus-ten.

Hayden suffered a lower-body injury during a game with the Kraken on March 18th against the Edmonton Oilers and was forced to undergo surgery. He was given a 12-week timeline for recovery and we're just over ten weeks since he went under the knife, so in order to join their AHL affiliate, he must clear waivers.

If Hayden clears waivers on Tuesday at 2 p.m. ET, he'll join the Firebirds to help with their push for the 2023 Calder Cup. Currently, Coachella Valley is up 2-0 in the Western Conference Final against the Milwaukee Admirals, with Game 3 set for Monday night.
