Ron Francis and the Seattle Kraken have overpaid another player have overpaid another player to retain their services in Seattle

The Seattle Kraken and General Manager, Ron Francis have checked another item off their to do list. Just weeks ahead of the season the team has secured the services of Adam Larsson for the next 4 seasons. This contact won't begin until the start of the 2025-26 season.

Larsson is in the final year of a four year contract with a cap hit of $4,000,000. Many expected Larsson to see a decrease on his next deal as the his play has dipped over the last year. Larsson, 31, however has managed to secure a significant increase in his contract.

Frank Seravalli was the first to report the story.

Elliotte Friedman quickly followed up revealing the full terms of the deal, seeing Larsson receive an increase of $1,250,000 per year.

This deal will see Larsson remain under contract until he's 36-years-old. Many projected that Larsson who had 18 points last season, saw his defence zone starts continue to decrease. Once seen as a defensive specialist, has now lost a step and gave up over 2000 chances against, 400 more than he generated.

If this trend continues for Larsson, the Kraken will have to find a way out of this deal.
