Sergachev underwent surgery in the days that followed and is already making some impressive strides in his recovery just over one month since going under the knife.
In a post on his Instagram, Sergachev showed himself working out on an underwater treadmill, which comes 39 days after his surgery.
Sergachev will most likely return to start the 2024-25 season, although a video like this one he posted on social media will make Lightning fans think he could return at some point in the playoffs, which won't happen.
As a result of Sergachev's injury, the Lightning went out on the trade market and brought in former first-round pick Matt Dumba in a deal with the Arizona Coyotes. While Dumba is a good depth addition, it's hard to replicate what Sergachev brings to the Lightning's lineup.
Going into Sunday, the Lightning occupy the first Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference with a record of 36-25-6 (78 points) through 67 games. Without Sergachev in the lineup, they're going to have a bit of tough time in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but if Kucherov, Hedman, Stamkos, Vasilevskiy, among others can be at the top of their game, a first-round upset could be in the cards.
