Brendan Shanahan reportedly sent the Toronto Maple Leafs Core Four a surprising message
After a disappointing season and a confusing start to the offseason, many expected the Toronto Maple Leafs to make major changes. Many expected the Toronto Maple Leafs to finally dismantle their core four. However, that might not be the case.
According to Chris Johnston, after terminating the deal of Kyle Dubas, Brendan Shanahan took the time to call all of the Maple Leafs top players. Those calls led to a very surprising result.
Brendan Shanahan phoned each of the Leafs top players to share the news about Kyle Dubas.
Those players came away from those conversations under the belief that Shanahan's intentions are to bring the entire core 4 back.
That's not written in stone and the new GM could have a different perspective on that, but those players believe they're going to be back together at this time.
This is a major shift from what approach the team has been expected to take. With the NHL Draft approximately a month away, the Maple Leafs will need to make a major decision sooner rather than later.
