Late in the second period the camera panned towards their bench and caught the likes of Auston Matthews, William Nylander and Mitch Marner, three quarters of the core four visibly upset and yelling at anyone who would listen; Have a look:
This team just finished playing the most uninspired period of their season during a time where they should have been playing the best period of their season.
It seems that the only person that really cares about what happens to this team is William Nylander who missed the first three games of the series, but appears to be giving it to his teammate(Marner) and rightfully so. Buckle down and play the game or don't bother playing another shift.
Whatever happens tonight happens, but if they play with the same lack of urgency and energy Tuesday night then they'll be golfing by Thursday and they might as well have a going away party because this team needs to look drastically different come the fall. Eight years of failure is unacceptable and downright embarrassing.
It's a difficult thing to admit but this team may be better off without Mitch Marner moving forward. But the question that comes to mind is how can they move a guy who has a hefty contract and a No Move Clause.
