Insider reveals the Toronto Maple Leafs have decided on next coach
According to reports, the Toronto Maple Leafs have finally reached decision on the next coach of the team after firing Sheldon Keefe.
After a disappointing first round exit from the playoffs, the Toronto Maple Leafs made the difficulty decision to relieve head coach Sheldon Keefe of his coaching duties. This termination began the search for a new coach and a new direction in the locker room. After an extensive search and interview process, it appears the Maple Leafs have reached a decision
Today on the Jeff Marek Show, NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman revealed that the Maple Leafs have officially come to the decision. According to Friedman, the Maple Leafs will be hiring Stanley Cup winning coach Craig Berube.
Berube is one of the few coaches on the market with a Stanley Cup on their resume. Berube is a no-nonsense coach who brings a sense of accountability to whichever locker room he walks into. He's not afraid to call out his best players and demand more from them.
This hire will likely take a few of days to complete all the paperwork as it is an intricate process. It is expected that Berube will become one of the highest paid coaches in the league and if reports are true, he will bring a veteran staff alongside him. If reports are true Berube will be bringing with him another former head coach to work on his staff.
Expect this signing to be complete in the coming days according to Friedman.
