Ryan Reaves was handed a five-game suspension by the NHL after a recent hit on Darnell Nurse, and now the team refuse to allow him to speak to the media about it.

The NHL community was in an uproar over the weekend after Ryan Reaves took out defenseman Darnell Nurse of the Edmonton Oilers with a hit to the head, resulting in a five-game suspension.

This has brought out much criticism for the veterans ridiculous decision on the play, and while there's been plenty of hate, people have also stood up for him, including General Manager Brad Treliving, who signed him to his current deal.

"First of all, you never want to see anybody injured and it was one of those where there's no doubt in my mind, there's no intent on Ryan's part. He's going in to make a hit. It's a hockey play that goes wrong, right?

"I'm not going to sit here and bicker about the game here and there. Like I said, at no point do I think Ryan had any intent for that to happen. It didn't end up the way we wanted to, and I understand the league's position."

We'e also heard from Craig Berube in defense of the veteran, but for most fans and the media, they are eager to hear from the player himself after the brain snap left Nurse bloodied and shaken up with a concussion.

Unfortunately however, the team won't allow him to speak to the media, as he was eager to do so on Tuesday before their media relations team shut down the potential interview.

It's unclear if the team will let him speak on this before the suspension is up, and while there's likely very little he can say to defend his situation, but given how often this has happened with Reaves, people are waiting to hear his side of the story.
