Photo surfaces of piece of equipment proving Maple Leafs nearly acquired dman
Every offseason for a ridiculously long time, it seems as if fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs take a look in the mirror and wonder what could have been after not being able to celebrate a Stanley Cup victory since 1967. While many of them have come to terms with this, there are those who analyze every little thing they felt went wrong and scrutinize it publicly or privately.
Well, a photo circulating the internet that features a pair of blue and white gloves from ProStock Hockey being advertised as Warrior Alpha DX Pro's that were purportedly to be for current Dallas Stars defenseman Chris Tanev could have many more up in arms than they originally were.
It's important to remember that one player likely would not have put the Toronto Maple Leafs over the top. Many other factors needed to happen for the team to be successful in the playoffs, and as we know, that just didn't happen. Could Tanev have bolstered the back end for a team that has been looking for some added toughness for a dogs age? Yes. Would he have solved all the problems the defence dealt with during the 20232024 season? Absolutely not.
While Tanev is an intriguing player and could eventually make his way into a Maple Leafs sweater, one must ask themselves whether or not the team would actually excel with him in the lineup. He has only suited up for a full 82 games once in his career, and the Leafs don't need that type of headache as they have had the misfortune of signing or acquiring a player in the past who has immediately become injured and is absolutely of no use to them.
