The NHL's newest team, Utah Hockey Club, has publicly dropped its design for jersey patches for the team's very first season, and the reaction is mixed

The start of the 2024-25 NHL season will bring a brand new team into the fold. The absolute mess of drama that unfolded over the past few season with the Arizona Coyotes was brought to a merciful end when the entire franchise was sold to Ryan Smith, owner of the NBA's Utah Jazz, who announced the team would be moving to Salt Lake City. Since then, a lot of people have been very busy trying to get everything ready in time.

With another month left until NHL training camps begin, Utah HC, as the team will be known in it's inaugural season, has unveiled it's first ever jersey patch. I'll be honest, I really don't care for the fact that the team has decided to start it's first season as Utah Hockey Club, or Utah HC, but I do like the sleek design and colour of this patch.

At last update, Utah HC was down to just a handful of possible names that fans get to choose from online. These include Blizzard, Mammoth, Yeti, Venom, and Outlaws (I'm partial to Yeti and Outlaws, myself).

Despite playing without a usual nickname in 2024-25, it looks like whoever is designing jerseys and patches for Utah HC has a keen eye. Once the official name is chosen, it will be interesting to see if they can hit it out of the park. Sales could be very strong in many places with the right choices.
