It wasn't exactly a banner year for anyone with the Vancouver Canucks, but for Tanner Pearson, it was especially bad. The 30-year-old was shut down in November after playing just 14 games for a hand injury. He was expected to be back in January. When the new year rolled around, Vancouver not only announced that he was now out for the season, but that he had undergone his third surgery since hurting his hand back in November. During an end of the year interview Saturday, Pearson was asked whether the injury was handled properly by the team. He said he didn't want to share his personal opinion on the matter, but...

"The people who need to know, know," said Pearson.

Pearson became more frustrated as he went on.

"Look, I'm just trying to get my hand back. I'm just trying to go home, be a dad and play with my kids. It sucks."

Pearson's teammate, Quinn Hughes, spoke out about the situation in January saying he felt the injury "wasn't handled properly." This caused a firestorm of questions for Canucks' management, and the NHLPA eventually said they would investigate on Pearson's behalf. No results of that investigation have been made public, or even whether it was completed or ongoing. As for Pearson, he had no idea when he might be able to get back in the lineup.

"There are timelines in my mind that I would like to hit, and hopefully, we do. It would make everything way better," said Pearson. "It's still such a slow process that I don't have a specific time or date."
