JT Miller returns to the fold tonight as the Vancouver Canucks meet up with the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers. Speaking to the media, JT Miller spoke about his return and also put a full stop to questions about his time off that began Nov. 19.
The Canucks announced his indefinite leave for personal reasons without elaboration and there was speculation galore on his situation, running the rumor mill from his personal life with his wife Natalie to possible trade talk.
One of the more salient reports came courtesy of 'The Athletic', when it emerged the New York Rangers had called in with interest in moving for Miller but refused to include Braden Schneider in the deal.
Of course, the rumblings have persisted, but Canucks president Jim Rutherford tried to turn down the heat, adamant the club supports Miller and hopes everyone else would do likewise.
On the radio, Rutherford spoke of the rumors as an irritant and called this situation a diversion that is coming at the very time when people need to rally behind the effort.
Through 17 games this year, with six goals and 16 points, Miller's been more preoccupied with retooling and doubling down on his own mental health.
A return to the ice tonight will mark a step back in the right direction as the Canucks remain all-in on his future in Vancouver.
