Former 2nd overall pick calls time on his career because of concussions
The 2nd overall pick from 2017, forward Nolan Patrick has announced his retirement from the NHL at the age of 25. Patrick hasn't played since the 2021-22 season when he appeared in only 25 games while playing for the Vegas Golden Knights.
Patrick has been dealing with a migraine disorder as a result of the many concussions he has received while playing hockey.
The Power Play a hockey coaching and mentorship program founded by former first-round pick Jayce Hawryluk shared a post on Instagram on Tuesday introducing their team'. On this team is none other than former top Flyers prospect Nolan Patrick, who holds the titles of «Skills Specialist», «Video Coach», and «Mentor». In addition, Patrick is referred to as a «Retired pro with significant NHL experience». This all but confirms that the Flyers' former No. 2 overall pick has retired from the NHL.
The Golden Knights did not tender an offer to Patrick ahead of free agency this past summer, allowing him to sign with any team.
Patrick finishes his career playing in 222 NHL games with the Flyers and Golden Knights, scoring 32 goals and 77 points.
Everyone at BladeofSteel wishes Nolan Patrick all the best on his future endeavors
