One Member Of Stanley Cup Roster Set To Cash In
The Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights knew this current roster couldn't come back fully intact. With the recent news that the salary cap is only increasing one million dollars bringing next seasons' cap at $83.5 million, the task is officially impossible.
Vegas only has $3,462,516 in cap space for next season. Pending the status of enigmatic goalie Robin Lehner they might be able to clear some more cap space,
Kevin Weekes reports that no contract discussions between the Golden Knights and Ivan Barbashev have taken place. It seems inevitable that he will hit free agency on July 1st.
The 27 year old two-time Stanley Cup champion looks set to cash in on what many believe is a weaker free agent class.
The Russian native was impressive for the Knights during their run. In 22 games he scored 7 goals and 18 points.
What kind of contract could Barbashev sign?
I predict something like the one fellow countryman Valeri Nichushkin signed after winning the cup for the Colorado Avalanche last year, 8 years worth $49,000,000.
