Wednesday night's game between the Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars is one that defenceman Alex Pietrangelo is going to want to forget quickly due to the costly mistake he made.

In the second period, Pietrangelo was given a two-minute minor for roughing on Tyler Seguin and on the ensuing powerplay, Jason Robertson scored in what would stand at the game-winner, giving Dallas a 3-2 series lead.

When meeting with reporters after the game, Vegas Golden Knight head coach Bruce Cassidy was not happy and proceeded to call out the veteran Alex Pietrangelo.

"Veteran guy should know better," Cassidy said.

He went on to add, "There's controlled aggression out there all over the ice in every series. ... There's a little bit of a learning curve that goes into it," the bench boss explained. "We should know better, but it happens. ... Margins are too thin."

"We have to take care of our discipline. We just have to. It's that simple."

With the loss, the defending Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights are on the verge of being knocked out of the playoffs in the first round. They'll look to tie up the series on Friday night on home ice at T-Mobile Arena. While playing in front of their fans could give them the boost they need Vegas has lost both of their home games in the playoffs to Dallas so far.
