Patrick Kane is set to become an unrestricted free agent on Monday, July 1st and one of the more successful teams in the Western Conference in recent years, Vegas, is one of those that could be an option for the future Hall of Famer.
Jason Pothier of SinBin Vegas discussed the possibility in a recent article on their website and pointed out that Kane's consistency, along with the Golden Knights' need for a top-six forward and help on the powerplay could make the two sides a perfect match once the free agent window opens on July 1st.
The Golden Knights were 3-for-12 (25%) on the powerplay during their first round series against the Dallas Stars, according to StatMuse, which isn't terrible, but at the most important time of the year, they need to be at least over 30% if they want to go on a deep run. Patrick Kane can be someone on the free agent market that has the ability to spark a powerplay, whether that be by setting up a play or lighting the lamp.
Kane's injury issues in recent years can be a cause of concern, although, he seemed fine last season for the Detroit Red Wings after undergoing hip resurfacing surgery last June. He went on to put up 47 points (20 goals, 27 assists), 16 penalty minutes and was a minus-five in 50 games for the Red Wings.
We'll have to wait and see what the future holds for Patrick Kane, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him put pen to paper on a deal with the Vegas Golden Knights once the market opens at Noon ET on Canada Day.
