Patrick Laine's name has been circling in rumours for sometime. This much we know when the puck drops on a new season he will have a new team, but where will that be? There have been so many conversations and he's been linked to so many teams, but this one might be the best fit.
According to Sammi Silber of The Hockey News, the Washington Capitals appear to be a fit for the 26-year-old goalscorer which would mean Alex Ovechkin would have arguably one of the best linemates, if not the best in his entire career.
Laine only skated in 18 games last season due to a combination of being injured and entering the Player Assistance Program, but in those games, he put up 9 points, including 6 goals and 3 assists.
If the Washington Capitals were able to trade for Laine and absorb his cap hit, being on the same line as Ovechkin could be a dangerous 1-2 punch and of course take some of the pressure off him as well.
The Washington Capitals have struggled to score goals and this could be the answer to that. Whether or not it happens, remains to be seen.
