Gabe Vilardi Takes a Swipe at Kings Fans while Talking about Being Traded to the Jets
Ontario Native Gabe Vilardi isn't just saying he's excited to play for the Winnipeg Jets next season, you could see it on his face as he talked to members of the Winnipeg media via Zoom. However, in saying that he was pumped play in Canada for the first time in his professional career, Vilardi made a comment about playing in Los Angeles that many Kings fans likely won't agree with.
"I'd be lying not to say, in Los Angeles, they're not big hockey fans out there"
On the flip side, Vilardi said his girlfriend, who is from Southern California, likely isn't too pleased about moving to Winnipeg. It will be a great introduction to Canadian winters for her.
"I'm excited. I'm excited to be back in Canada. My girlfriend is from SoCal so I don't know how excited she is," Vilardi said with a chuckle.
As for the trade that sent him to the Jets from Winnipeg, Vilardi said it's all part of the business and that the only thing he's focused on now is Winnipeg and the team getting better. Joining Vilardi in Winnipeg from the Kings are Alex Iafallo and Rasmus Kupari. Vilardi said having two teammates join Winnipeg with him makes things much easier overall.
