Earlier today, the Winnipeg Jets issued a statement pleading with fans to buy seasons tickets to keep the team in Winnipeg.
The statement is part of their marketing campaign called Forever Winnipeg, which heavily draws upon the fans' pain when the original Jets were relocated to Arizona in 1996.
The language in most of the marketing campaign, including clauses like but it takes all of us' implies that the team could be in serious financial trouble, and ownership or the league could look to relocate if Winnipeg can't prove to be a viable NHL market.
Interestingly, this news comes after recent rumours of the Atlanta Thrashers eyeing a comeback, and further expansion with a new team in Houston. Hopefully, the Jets can clinch a playoff spot, and give their fans something to cheer for, as they attempt to keep the team in Winnipeg.
