This is almost sure to get at least a phone call out of the NHL Department of Player Safety. David Pastrnak of the Boston Bruins was given a game misconduct for boarding on Ryan Lindgren of the New York Rangers.
With the major called, the officials had the chance to review the play to determine whether it could be reduced to two minutes. However, the five minutes and a game was the final call. It's a pretty clear case of boarding.
Lindgren left the game holding a towel to his head. He returned to the game with about five minutes gone in the third. I'd be very surprised if this didn't earn at least a fine, and I believe Pastrnak will be very lucky if he escapes a suspension on this.
Lindgren has had a tough couple of games, getting rocked against the Anaheim Ducks in the Rangers' previous game.
