Patrick Kane undergoes surgery on injury that could cause him to miss significant time next season
Patrick Kane has made it clear that he still has the urge to chase another Stanley Cup. The talented forward ended his season in disappointment after he and the New York Rangers were unable to defeat the New Jersey Devils.
Throughout his time in New York it was clear Kane was nursing a serious injury. Kane lacked the explosive speed and shiftiness that he's shown throughout his entire career. That injury clearly tracked back to his time with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Today Kane's agent Pat Brisson confirmed that Kane has officially gone under the knife.
Patrick Kane's representative, Pat Brisson, says Kane had a hip resurfacing today under Dr. Edwin Hsu. As is normal, follow-ups are planned, but roughly 4-6 months recovery is expected. Brisson says Kane «wants to play for a long time,» and doctors are optimistic that will happen
Kane made it very clear that he hopes to play next season, but depending on how his body responds he could be returning to physical activity as early as October or as late as December. Hopefully for Kane's sake he can get healthy and be a key contributor to a team's long Cup run.
