Report - Auston Matthews to undergo another offseason surgery as injuries continue to mount
It's been a tough couple of weeks for the Toronto Maple Leafs. With questions still surrounding the management and coaching staff, it now appears questions are also surrounding the teams best player. Two summers ago, after a wrist injury didn't respond well to treatment Auston Matthews was forced to undergo a successful wrist surgery.
Now heading into this summer there are more questions surrounding Matthews health and surgery has not been ruled out yet. According to NHL Insider Chris Johnston, Matthews played through an injury in the playoffs that will continue to require treatment.
CJ on SPDN talking Matthews high XG v low results..'I know for a fact that he (Auston) was injured. And I know that they are still working out his treatment plan and I don't think surgery is totally off the table.'
It will be interesting to see the course of action Matthews and the Leafs take. With so much change expected this summer the Leafs will certainly look to have Matthews ready to go for opening night.
