The Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins are gearing up for game five of their first round playoff series but there's been some speculation as whether or not star forward Auston Matthews will be playing in the game. Matthews was pulled from game four after the second period by the team doctor due to an illness, he did skate today, but was off the ice when morning skate officially started. Some insiders have suggested that it's more than just an illness and there's a secret injury that Matthews is dealing with at the moment.
According to Chris Johnston or TSN, Matthews likely not play tonight as he is not out for warm-ups. This could be a could spell the end of the Leafs season.
Matthews was not part of the bud arrival to TD Garden tonight, per Chris Johnston on OverDrive.
He is not likely to play tonight. #LeafsForever
Matthews, 26, is arguably the best school scorer in the game at this time. Coming off of a regular season in which he scored 69 times he certainly has been off to start the playoffs once the leafs season hinges on their stars finding their footing sooner than later given that they're facing elimination without Auston Matthews.
