On Wednesday night, the Toronto Maple Leafs faced off against the Tampa Bay Lightning, in a rematch from last year's playoffs. The two teams have build a significant dislike for each other over the past two playoff serious and tonight was no different. Early in the third period last night, Tanner Jeannot and Ryan Reaves squared off at center ice in an attempt to gain some energy for their teams.

After the two men exchanged right hands back and forth, the final punch of the fight appears to have caught Jeannot flush. The shot sent Jeannot hard to the ice and visibly shaken. Both men were assessed five minute fight majors on the play and sent to the penalty box.

It didn't take long and the NHL's concussion spotter seemed to notice that Jeannot was showing signs that he may have sustained a head injury during the fight. At this point Jeannot was pulled out of the penalty box during the next stoppage of play and he went directly into the locker room.

Today multiple sources are now reporting that Jeannot entered concussion protocol after the fight, as he did not return to the game.

After the game Tampa Bay did not provide an update on Jeannot's condition, but it is possible that the forward could miss some time due to the injury. Something, the Lightning can't afford at this time of year.
