1000 game NHL veteran Sam Gagner signs professional tryout with one of his former teams
Earlier this month the Edmonton Oilers announced that Brandon Sutter would receive a professional tryout with the team. Sutter has missed the last two seasons dealing with the effects of long COVID. When Oilers training camp opens in under a month, Sutter will not be the only player on professional tryout.
Today the Oilers announced that they had signed 1,000+ game NHL veteran Sam Gagner to a professional tryout of his own. This will mark Garner's third stint with the team.
The Edmonton Oilers have signed forwards Sam Gagner and Brandon Sutter to professional tryout agreements (PTOs).
Gagner, 34, returns to the Oilers for a third time. Gagner was drafted by the Oilers in 2007 (7th overall). Gagner played 402 games scoring 88 goals and 158 assists. Gagner second stint with the team was in 2018-19 when he played another 61 games scoring 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points.
