21-year-old player knocked unconscious after slamming his head on the ice
Yesterday a scary scene unfolded in the VHL after forward Yegor Bryzgalov was knocked unconscious. After a collision with Vladislav Syomin, Bryzgalov swung around and landed hard with his head slamming hard off the ice.
On the hit it appears both players heads collide before they both crash to the ice. The referees deemed there was no penalty on the play. Bryzgalov was loaded onto a stretcher and taken to a local area hospital.
The team has since released a report that Bryzgalov suffered a significant concussion on the play and is expected to miss an extended time due to this hit. There have been multiple complaints about how long it took medical officials to get to Bryzgalov and how long it took officials to blow down the play.
