A dirty play last season likely cost PK Subban a contract this year
PK Subban is still looking for an NHL contract, but according to at least one NHL source Subban could be considering leaving the NHL instead. If Subban chose to pursue a career in broadcasting it would likely mark the end of his NHL career. But according to Stefen Rosner an incident last season likely cost Subban a shot at a contract with the New York Islanders.
The incident in question occured on April 3rd. After Oliver Wahlstrom threw a hit on Jack Hughes, Subban immediately responded with a dirty play of his own.
Subban immediately attacked Walhstrom sending him to the ice. On the play Subban was given a fighting major, an instigator and a game misconduct.
There were clearly some anger after the incident and then head coach Barry Trotz shared the following:
He (Subban) was fortunate he probably got kicked out of the game.
It's clear that anger still runs deep as new Head Coach, Lane Lambert announced today the team had no intention of bringing anyone to camp on a PTO.
