Another Canadian goalie appears to have lost his job as starter
While much of the talk in Canada has been about Jack Campbell losing his starting goalie job to Stuart Skinner, another goalie has seemingly lost his job as well. Just down the road from Edmonton, in Calgary it appears former Vezina Trophy Finalist, Jacob Markstorm has also lost his job. Earlier today Darryl Sutter made the announcement that Dan Vladar was set to start tonight for the Flames.
Sutter has done everything in his power to help Markstrom find his game, but without success. Markstrom has started 17 games for the Flames and has an 8-6-2 record, a goals against average of 2.98 and a .889 save percentage. Last week after another tough outing Markstrom claimed he, "just sucked at hockey right now."
So far this season Vladar has a save percentage of .915 and a 2.61 goals against average. With the Flames currently sitting outside of the player picture, they will need to do everything possible to salvage this season. If that means sitting Markstrom, that's what they'll do.
