Another ECHL player is facing an indefinite ban after their Department of Player Safety handed down a punishment
The ECHL Department of Players Safety has suspended Adirondack Thunder forward Zach Walker indefinitely. The incident happened during Friday's game when the Thunder faced off against the Newfoundland Growlers.
Walker has been suspended for possible abuse of the referees. This the team's first run in with this, though, as Sebastian Vidmar was suspended earlier this season for three games for the exact same reason.
The Thunder forward was given a game misconduct for his actions. As he was skating to the penalty box, he seemed to have made physical contact with the lineman. It looks like he got tagged with a roughing call beforehand, which could've been the call he was arguing.
This season, Walker has three goals and seven assists, tallying up to ten points in 30 games. Along with that, he has 35 penalty minutes.
Unfortunately for Walker, this falls under rule 40.2 of the ECHL, where it has an automatic 20-game suspension at minimum, pending a hearing.
As of right now, the ECHL has suspended walker indefinitely, we'll see if the 20 game suspension is handed out, or he'll be given his papers to walk away from the league. .
