Arizona Coyotes heading to Tulsa, Oklahoma to play preseason games in a better arena
The Arizona Coyotes have long been the running joke of the NHL. There new home at the ASU Multipurpose Arena has drawn much criticism. The arena that seats only 5,000 will be over 10,000 seats smaller than the next smallest arena. The arena is also not scheduled to be ready for the start of next season.
This will lead the Coyotes out on what could be the longest road trip in NHL History. Along the way it sounds like tbr Coyotes will be making a few different stops. Today they announced one if those stops would be in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The Arizona Coyotes announced today that the team will play the Dallas Stars in a preseason game at BOK Center in Tulsa, OK on Tuesday, September 27. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
BOK Center is Tulsa's state-of-the-art sports and entertainment venue that opened in fall 2008. The 19,199-seat arena is home to the ECHL Tulsa Oilers. BOK Center was designed to host major concerts, family shows, ice shows, and other world class entertainment. Owned by the City Of Tulsa, BOK Center is part of Vision 2025, a project to grow economic and community infrastructure for future generations.
There are those who feel like a game like this could be a test run for the NHL as they plan for the possibility of moving the Coyotes. As the Tempe City Council nears a decision on the Coyotes' future, the NHL must be ready for all outcomes.
If Tempe were to decide the Coyotes were unfit for their new location, it would all but certainly assure the end of the franchise.
