Arizona Coyotes reveal the asking price for Jakob Chychrun
NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun has reported the asking price for Coyotes defenseman Jakob Chychrun and it's higher than you may expect. Arizona is asking for two first round picks in exchange Chychrun. The Coyotes are defending their high asking price by pointing out the return for previous trades last year.
For example, in the Hampus Lindholm trade the Ducks received a first-round pick and two future second round picks. They Coyotes claim their player is just as valuable and is younger. At last year's trade deadline, Brandon Hagel went to Tamp Bay for two first-round picks as well.
This is a steep asking price by the Coyotes. Yeah, Chychrun is young and a top four defender but his inability to stay healthy is a real problem. Chychrun has asked to be traded quite a while ago and the trade rumors involving his name seem to be endless. It is no wonder Arizona has been unable to make such a deal.
First round picks are prized nowadays. Giving up two to get a defenseman who has trouble staying healthy is a gamble. Chychrun has only skated in one game this season for the Coyotes. No doubt teams looking for a defenseman will be watching his games closely. The question is, is anyone willing to pay such a steep price?
