The New York Rangers had been without a Captain for years after trading away Ryan McDonagh. But earlier this summer they decided to name Jacob Trouba as the newest captain. While many fans expected Chris Kreider to be named, fans have accepted Trouba with open arms.
Since the announcement Panarin has made multiple jokes about himself having wanted to be captain. During camp though Panarin doubled down with this hilarious answer as to why they selected Trouba over him.
Panarin's reasoning?
Because I not speak English.
Panarin has definitely endeared himself to the New York fan base and has returned to camp with a good sense of humor and a different outlook on the way he plays the game. This can only bode well for the Blue Shirts.
