The Islanders took on the Canucks last night and after a scoreless first, the teams traded goals in the second. After the Islanders took a 1-0 lead early in the second period on a goal from Noah Dobson the Canucks took a 2-1 lead on mid-period goals from Hunt and Miller before Kyle Palmeri scored with under 2 minutes to go to tie the game at 2 heading to the third.

Less than 2 minutes into the third frame, Anthony Beauvillier gave the Islanders a 3-2 lead and they looked to be on their way to securing a much needed 2 points. However, a couple of turnovers midway through the third period allowed Nils Hoglander and Vasily Podkolzin to score 45 seconds apart to give the Canucks a 4-3 lead, which they held onto to secure 2 points.

During the post game media scrum, Islanders coach Barry Trotz sounded off about the team's turnovers saying "They're a pretty good offensive team, we turned the puck over way too many times." He followed that up with what may be the soundbite of the season in saying "turnovers are like ex wives, if you have too many, they cost you a lot."

The Isles move to 20-23-8 with the loss. At this point, they're expected to be sellers at the trade deadline and are likely headed towards a bit of a re-tool this summer.
