Breaking News - Oilers and Blues make a trade ahead of cap deadline
With the Tuesday deadline for final roster submissions teams are working hard to ensure they're salary cap compliant. Today is the last day for teams to place players on waivers and has therefore created a flurry of activity.
This afternoon the Edmonton Oilers and St. Louis Blues announced a trade involving defensemen.
The #Oilers have acquired centreman Klim Kostin from St. Louis in exchange for defenceman Dmitri Samorukov. Kostin was drafted 31st overall in 2017 & has scored 11 points (5 goals, 6 assists) in 46 career NHL games. The deal provides the Oilers real depth at the NHL level while moving a player who was likely not going to see time in their NHL lineup at any point. Expect more deals as teams try and get cap compliant.
