Canadian and American hockey players get stern warning to flee country immediately
There are currently 16 American and 48 Canadian players under contract to teams in the KHL, but that is expected to change immediately. With the escalating conflict between Russia and the Ukraine, governments are now warning their residents to get out of Russia immediately.
Yesterday the Canadian Government issued a follow up message to a previous message they'd sent. This message encouraged all Canadians in the country to leave immediately. There are lots of fears surrounding the conditions and safety of those remaining in the country.
The United States Government went even further issuing the following message yesterday.
As things escalate in Russia it's clear governments are preparing for a worst case scenario situation.
