Kane and Toews Ready To Start The Season In Chicago
Blackhawks General Manager Kyle Davidson expects his two brightest stars, Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, to be ready to play when the puck drops to start the season on October 12th in Colorado. Despite the rumors of both players possibly leaving, the Blackhawks will start the season with Toews and Kane in the lineup. Both players and Davidson want to focus their efforts and attention on the season that is currently ahead of them. Davidson has made it clear that right now there will be no contract or trade talks as of right now.
That does not mean that things can't change at some point during the season. Both Kane and Toews would be highly sought after players from most other organizations in the National Hockey League. They have both have had stellar careers and have won three Stanley Cups a piece. Each player's contract expires at the end of this season making them both unrestricted free agents. They also each have full no movement clause in their contracts, so both players can control where they're traded to. If Chicago is planning a rebuild, it might make sense for Kane and Toews to be traded at the deadline rather than letting them go for nothing this summer. It is also doubtful that both players want to be part of a lengthy rebuild process.
