With the Florida Panthers in Ottawa to play the Senators yesterday, TSN 1200 Radio host, Shawn Simpson ran into Claude Giroux and shared the following information:

I just ran into Claude Giroux at Costco, and he's moved into his new Kanata home.

Giroux said playing in Ottawa, "Would be a dream come true".

Said Darcy Loewen was his favorite player growing up.

The former Flyers' captain played three seasons for the Gatineau Olympiques in the QMJHL. Gatineau is only a short drive across the bridge from Ottawa.

Giroux said Darcy Lowen was his favorite player growing up. Lowen played two seasons for the Ottawa Senators. He had only played 12 career NHL games before the Senators selected him in the 1992 NHL Expansion Draft. He played 135 games scoring 4 goals and 12 points. He did amass a whopping 211 penalty minutes during his career.

The long time Flyer captain was traded to the Florida Panthers on March 19 for a package that included prospect Owen Tippett. Giroux is currently playing out the final year of his eight year contract that he signed with the Flyers in 2013.

Giroux is hoping to go on a long playoff run with the President Trophy winning Panthers.
