Colorado Avalanche's Cale Makar makes bold prediction about next season
The Colorado Avalanche were a force to be reckoned with last season, rarely showing signs of struggle throughout their Stanley Cup run. Now, one of their stars thinks they have the ability to repeat.
According to 2022 Norris Trophy winner Cale Makar during an appearance on talk show Tim & friends it's not outside the realm of possibility that the Av's repeat as champions.
When asked about why he believes Colorado has a chance to repeat, the defensive dynamo had this to say regarding the teams competitiveness:
We have so much of that on our team, especially (Nathan MacKinnon). ... Any time you have competitive guys together, it makes you want to play even better, and that's kind of the way our team rolled. While also giving a nod to the adds management made on trade deadline day last year:
I think for us this year, one of the key things was our trade-deadline acquisitions," he said. "Bringing in (Artturi) Lehkonen, (Andrew) Cogliano, (Josh) Manson, and (Nico) Sturm, just absolutely incredible pieces that, honestly, helped us bring home the championship.
Makar at just 23 years old had 28 goals and 58 assists for 86 points this past season. He also went on to add 29 points in just 20 playoff games.
If Colorado is going to repeat, Makar is going to have to be a huge part of the offence from the back end.
What's also scary is Makar seemingly has not even entered his prime yet.
