On July 17th this year, Connor Bedard signed his entry-level contract with the Chicago Blackhawks, expectedly to the max value of $950,000 annually.
However, new details have emerged revealing that Bedard could make much more than his annual guarantee. If Bedard reaches a certain amount of season statistics and awards, he could earn up to $13M over the term of his three year entry level deal.
Obviously, Bedard would have to be one of the most dominant players in the league immediately to earn that salary, which is highly unlikely. However, it is probable that he could earn several season statistic bonuses - including scoring 20 goals, 60 points, ice time share, an all rookie selection, and an all star selection.
With Bedard being commonly marked as a generational talent since the age of 16, the expectations surrounding him are extremely high, and even reflected in his contract. Significantly more so than last season, hockey fans everywhere will watch more Blackhawks games, just to see the development of Bedard.
