When you make it to the National Hockey League, pressure comes in waves, for most, it's a privilege, for others, not so much. Especially playing in a hockey market anywhere in Canada, you're under a microscope.

Edmonton Oilers defender Darnell Nurse sat down with Luke Gazdic on the Mitts Off podcast to discuss the pressure and what it's like to play in Edmonton; take a look.

Darnell Nurse: I feel like I've been blamed for everything from a goal against to the traffic on Stony Plain'
.

Pressure comes with the territory when you're one year in to an 8-year extension worth 9.25 million annually, but he says the criticism sometimes is unjust.

I mean you also have to take a lot of stuff with a grain of salt, like sometimes I feel like I've been blamed for everything from a goal against to the traffic on Stony Plain, right so like it's just you have to be really cognizant of what the pressure you put on yourself

Nurse also talks about how he deals with what he considers to be unfair pressure and that while sometimes it does get to be a lot, he welcomes the privilege it comes with.

I don't know that the Nurse critics are wrong, but it's good to see that he can deal with it the way he has and recognize the position he's put in to be able to make a lot of money.
