According to Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic, the Blues' initial offer to David Perron was two years at a much lower salary than the veteran forward expected, which left a bad taste in Perron's mouth.
I can see both sides of this, if you're David Perron, you've gone on record and said you would like to finish your career with the Blues' organization, even gone so far as to liken them to your family, so feeling slighted at what you feel is a low-ball offer must be tough to stomach. However, I can also see this from the Blues' perspective as well, the salary cap isn't being adjusted for another three seasons at least, so you do what you can to ice the best team possible.
Perron, 34, is still a very productive forward even if he is getting up there in age. in 67 games played with the Blues last season, the forward had 27 goals and 30 assists for 57 points. Even if it limits the term, the man can still play at a high level and deserves to be compensated as such.
